Golfing Paradise on the Garden Island of Kauai
Golf lovers from all over the world make their way to the beautiful Garden Island of Kauai. Kauai best known for its lush island beauty and Each Hawaiian island is unique in itself, so are the more than 90 golf courses in the island chain. Kauai aka the ‘Garden Isle’ is the oldest of all Hawaiian Islands. The lush and tropical north shore is a misty mountain wilderness where rainbow-crowned waterfalls drop from sheer cliffs into the sea.
Top names such as Arnold Palmer to Jack Nicklaus, Greg Norman, Robert Trent Jones, Sr. and Jr. and Tom Fazio among others in course design have made their mark in the middle of the Pacific. Standing proud between jagged peaks and Hanalai Bay, the Prince Golf Course at Princeville at Hanalei is one of the most spectacular golf course in the world. It enjoys magnificent views from 300 feet above the Pacific Ocean. The dramatic elevation changes and wildly undulating fairways are the order of the day. Located not too far from Mount Waialeale, said to be the wettest spot on earth. Rain showers come and go, golfers hop in and out of shelters around the course.
There are numerous golf courses spread throughout the islands of Hawaii but nothing comes close to a golf vacation on Kauai. We spent 3 weeks on Kauai. We golfed almost everyday of our trip. The first week we stayed in a Poipu Vacation Rental and golfed everyday at Poipu Bay Golf Course, the home of the PGA Grand Slam of Gold from 1994-2006. The next week we stayed in a Hanalei Vacation Home as it was the ideal location in the middle of everything. The Prince Golf Course we found very challenging but the views took our breath away. Ocean and mountain views are present anywhere you are on the course. Finally, the last week stayed in private Kauai cottage rental located in Aliomanu Beach Anahola. Just about a 15-20 minute drive from the Lihue Airport. We enjoyed all of our Allure Kauai accommodations.
